The Junior Council is a 100% volunteer board of 80+ young professionals dedicated to supporting the
Pediatric & Adolescent HIV/AIDS Program at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago.
The Junior Council welcomes new members throughout the year. Membership requirements include:
- Pay $75 Annual Dues (must be paid within two months of attending your first meeting)
- Complete Membership Form
- Attend at least seven meetings a year
- Serve on a committee
- Purchase at least one ticket to a fundraising event and bring prospective members/friends
- Purchase one ticket to Snowball
- Volunteer for at least one shift before, after, and/or during Snowball
- Provide a corporate referral or auction item for Snowball
In addition to organizing a variety of fundraising events open to the Chicago community, the Junior
Council meets as a board for the following council-only activities:
- Council Meetings
The Junior Council holds general member meetings on the second Wednesday of every month
at 7:00PM on the first floor of the Stanley Manne Children’s Research Institute (2430 N. Halsted
Street). These meetings are dedicated to Executive Board updates, committee work sessions,
and/or lectures from key Junior Council affiliates. After each meeting, we gather at Lincoln
Station (2432 N. Lincoln Ave.) for casual food, drinks, and socialization. Please consult the Events

- Work Nights
In addition to the committee work sessions during our monthly meetings, the Junior Council
hosts monthly Work Nights to prepare for Snowball. Tasks include soliciting sponsorships,
creating event decorations, and securing auction items. Free dinner is provided. Please consult

- Hospital Tours
The New Member Committee hosts bimonthly Hospital Tours for Junior Council members to see
the impact our work has on patients’ experiences. We meet in the Lurie Children’s Hospital

The Junior Council looks for opportunities to support the Lurie Children’s Hospital beyond our
council-specific events and fundraising. These ventures include volunteer shifts with patients,
service days at the hospital, and participating in the Lurie Children’s Move for the Kids 5K. Please

The Junior Council participates in biannual intramural leagues to foster fellowship amongst
council membership. Volleyball season wrapped in July; please consult the Events Calendar or

- Happy Hours
The New Member committee hosts biannual happy hours for members to meet and mingle over
